At Heritage Organics we take pride in sourcing only the finest organic and wild harvested ingredients and many of our ingredients are sustainably sourced from the Brazilian Amazon rainforest. Purchase of locally sourced oils and butters from the Amazon Rainforest supports indigenous communities by giving members of these communities opportunities to support themselves. This in turn keeps these community members from on relying on timber as a means of support.
Butters and oils that are wild harvested from the Amazon rainforest include some of the most effective and nourishing natural anti-aging properties when added to skincare and haircare products. Many of the oils and butters from the Amazon Rainforest are considered superfoods. Some of our most used ingredients include Cupuacu butter, Murumuru butter, Bacuri Butter, Buriti oil, and Cacay oil.
At Heritage Organics we love beauty butters and oils from the Amazon rainforest so much that we use Cupuacu butter as a standard ingredient in most of our soaps and lotions.
Acai Berry is loaded with antioxidants and abundant in Vitamins A, B, C and E as well as minerals which helps to revive skin, heal damaged skin cells and restore moisture. Acai Berry’s benefits for the skin are strongly associated with anti-aging – more than any other fruit.
Bacuri Butter was traditionally used to safeguard against insect bites and skin problems. High in Palmitic Acid, Bacuri butter has a fast absorption rate, and its hydrating, soothing and firming properties make it a superior moisturizer that is suited to all skin types, including sensitive and oily types. When applied regularly, it reduces the formation of redness, rashes, blemishes and scarring.
Buriti Oil is one of the richest sources of beta-carotene known, containing more beta-carotene than carrot oil. Because of its abundance of antioxidants, fatty acids and vitamin A, Buriti oil is an excellent ingredient to help smooth, nourish, and moisturize the skin while supporting collagen and elastin production.
Cacay Oil contains over 68% Linoleic acid, an Omega-6 fatty acid. Linoleic-rich oils are non-comedogenic, meaning that Cacay oil won't cause breakouts. Cacay oil also contains extraordinarily high levels of naturally occurring Retinol, or Vitamin A which has been proven to reduce wrinkles, boost collagen production, and regenerate the skin.
Cupuacu Butter is a luxury super moisturizer that delivers true healing and restructuring benefits to the skin while improving the skin’s moisture barrier and adding hydration for improved elasticity. More moisturizing than Shea butter, Cupuacu butter is also rich in many B vitamins and antioxidants, including Vitamin A and C.
Murumuru Butter is rich in fatty acids which helps to support the natural skin barrier and prevent moisture loss. Murumuru butter is an excellent emollient with anti-inflammatory abilities that soothe sensitive or irritated skin. It is an excellent healing ingredient that treats skin conditions such as eczema, heals cracked skin, and burns.
Pitaua Oil is a powerful hydrating agent and possesses skin firming properties due to its rich vitamin E, A and amino acids protein content. Pitaua has also been recognized for its ability to nourish hair and scalp and has been used for this purpose in the amazon for generations.
At Heritage Organics we love to use new and exciting, sustainable ingredients. We especially love when we come across ingredients that are still local secrets and that have not yet exploded in the beauty world. Many of our Brazilian Amazon rainforest finds fit that mold.
